Artist Statement

I am a radical feminist, have identified myself as that since the ’60’s. With each year my awareness grew so now my feminism includes being an animal advocate. The first feminist treatise I read changed my life exponentially: Mary Daly’s ‘Gyn/Ecology: The Meta Ethics of Radical Feminism’. I was fortunate to have been chosen by her to illustrate her last four books. I draw and paint the world as I would like it to be, where women and animals have the right to live their lives as they choose, where we and our animal kin traverse the earth without fear of being
brutalized or hurt or murdered for food. My women are brave and strong as well as sensitive and vulnerable, and always beautiful, no matter their size, shape or color of their skin.
