Artist Statement

My artistic expression explores the interaction of architectural and natural forms, creating images that are realistic, intuitive and unique. My creative output focuses on printmaking, where I use my original photographs as the foundation of the resulting carved block and printed image. This use of multiple mediums incorporates my love, experience and education in photography with the practice of using my hands to carve the resulting image, which is entirely unique on its own (not duplicate). Printmaking pushes my process further than can be achieved by photography alone and is innovative and inventive in ways only a human can accomplish (down with AI!) I embrace the personality of each image beyond the exactness of a photograph, the results incorporating all the elements I love about making art.
