RIKXECOM Flower Horizon, Gallery Canvas, 20 x 20 x 2 inches
Tactile contemporary abstract art, transcends traditional visual boundaries, inviting viewers into a multi sensory experience where sight or NOT and touch converge. It is about engaging the senses, creating an immersive and interactive relationship between the art and the viewer.Crafted with layers that form peaks and valleys. The use of texture is like a secret language for visually impaired, speaking directly to the person fingertips and evoking emotions and ideas that sight alone cannot express. The tactile quality of the work, with its contrasting surfaces—smooth and rough, metallic and organic—encourages an irresistible urge to reach out and physically connect, even when not permitted except for the visually impaired.
One of my first exemplary piece is titled ‘RIKXECOM L’Oeuf d’Or’ (Golden Egg), epitomizes this approach. It features a captivating mix of textures: the smooth, golden crevices invite exploration, while the rough, organic elements create a sense of dynamic contrast. The tactile experience of this piece not only engages the senses but also embodies the essence of my tactile art—an expression of joy, imagination,
and a deeper exploration of the human experience. It is as though I left a pulse in the work, beckoning youthe viewers to trace its contours and feel the life embedded within the art.
A Journey of Inspiration: Resilience, Creativity, and Artistic Expression every texture, every choice of medium carries within it the echoes of my life’s challenges, triumphs, and spiritual awakening. My journey is about art.My art is a reflection of my life—a testament to resilience, creativity, and the profound depths of human expression. It speaks to not only my personal spiritual journey but also my triumph over challenges such as Marfan Syndrome. The surgeries and obstacles I faced in my youth have added layers of depth and meaning to my work, allowing it to transcend mere aesthetics and connect with the soul.My creative process often flourishes in the quiet solitude of nighttime, a time when my mind feels most alive and attuned to inspiration. In the 1980s, I experienced three profound out-of-body experiences
(NDEs) that permanently altered my perception of reality. These moments reshaped my understanding of existence as an organic, carbon-based being on Earth. They instilled in me a deep appreciation for the present moment and the intricate interconnectedness of life, enriching my work with purpose and depth
beyond the ordinary.
Each piece I create is imbued with this transformative journey. It is not merely art but a narrative—a visual and tactile embodiment of my raison d’être, my reason for being. My work invites viewers to engage with it,not just with their eyes but with their hearts and minds, creating a shared experience that resonates on a
deeply human level.
