Artist Statement
My major artistic inspirations first came from the social justice,anti-nuclear an labor movements of the 1960s and 70s,which still inform my work, and the current climate,preservation and socialist political movements. I also becameinterested in architectural photography when using my photos to illustrate two blogs, “Architectural Tiles, Glass and Ornamentation in New York” (2012-2021) and “A SometimeArchitourist” (2013-2014). The Covid pandemic allowed me time to experiment with unusual photo editing techniques and
abstract collages.
Artist Biography
Michael Padwee, (b. 1942) has been taking photos and documenting the labor, anti-Vietnam war and social justice movements since the late 1960s. He exhibited his work in the New York metropolitan area as a member of the “Minority
Photographers” group, and more recently as a member of the Long Island City Artists, the Cranbury (New Jersey) Digital Camera Club, and the IRVA (Inspired, Retired Visual Artists)collective in Brooklyn. Michael currently works on politically
inspired photography, abstract photo collages, nature andarchitectural photography.
