Artist Statement

I am a native NewYorker, working as a mixed media artist in Brooklyn, New York. I use acrylic, paper, and texture-enhancing mediums to create my works of art. I also use photography as a way to capture moments that express the complexity of the fleetingness of the media. I explore themes of being Female as described by the
individual and outer definitions which lead me to be able to explore the overlaying and underlying definitions of what that means, to whom and where.
My process focuses on texture and color in multiple layers. These layers can lay flat or interlock, be through paint methods or collage but are always symbolic and in support of the identified subject, even if that is the subject of a color. This approach expresses the complexity of identifying as female, and the myriad ways in which this word can be applied.
