Artist Statement

My recent work explores tree scapes and leaf patterns. My art moves away from a literal depiction of representational landscapes and plant studies. I am inspired by the rhythms created by natural forms, and make carefully defined compositions which function as pattern.
My sensibility remains rooted in my experience as a textile artist. I am drawn to non-directional compositions that suggest repetition, rhythm, and pattern rather than a single fixed viewpoint. My recent work explores tree canopies, leaves, and botanical forms through new palettes and exaggerated, filtered perspectives. Magnified and cropped compositions reveal emerging blooms, shadows, overlapping shapes, and negative spaces that
shift with the seasons and changing light.
