As an abstract expressionist painter I work with acrylics, oil
colors , cold wax, pigments and crayons on canvas or wood..
My work is shaped by the contrast between the places I have lived. In Germany, light feels softer, cooler, and more contained. In New Mexico the light is intense , hot and expansive. This difference has become part of my painting language. In large paintings on canvas I often use pastel colors, acrylic and oil colors, to create a sense of atmosphere, quiet and openness. I am interested in how color and light can hold memory and emotion.
