make art to understand how images find a home in memory-and how memory rearranges them. Icons, numbers, fragments of writing, and familiar symbols enter my work as pieces of a visual language. Some arrive loaded with history; others come from ordinary encounters that refuse to stay ordinary. I am drawn to the tension between recognition and surprise. An image may feel familiar at first, then shift through scale, color, repetition, or an unexpected phrase. Numbers may pose as dates, addresses, clues, or private jokes. Words might explain what is happening, complicate it, or lean toward the viewer and whisper something unexpected. I use playfulness deliberately. Humor opens a door, but it does not empty the room of meaning.
