Deborah Kovacs Sturdevant – Transmigration of the Soul

Description

Artist Statement

My art invites viewers to explore the uniqueness of my technique, often sparking curiosity about how each image is created and the stories behind them. I hope my work ignites conversation and personal interpretation-whether through whimsical elements, spiritual reflection, or emotional connection to the narratives depicted. Each piece is
meant to foster connection: between artist and audience, between past and present, and within those who take time to look closely.
My creative process is as vital as the finished piece. I generate unique images with AI, print them onto watersoluble paper, transfer them to polymer clay, then bake the clay. Hand-painting and enhancing the transferred imagery brings each subject to life. Then I cover the substrate in decoupage paper or collage, often designed by
me.
