Artist Statement

I am a self-taught award winning photographer and artist, involved in the US and international juried competitions. I enjoy dabbling in acrylics on canvas and ink painting. My works include my love of landscapes, mountains, oceans, sunrises, wildlife, and figures that capture personality, character, and humor. I am strongly influenced by color, and those details that make each subject interesting. I rely on observation, timing, and an understanding of light to capture images that invite memories. Using acrylics and inks I enjoy texture to develop the strength of each composition. In my practice, I’m continually refining my skills through experimentation, experience, and study. To me, it’s also important to record moments in time that may never occur again.
