Artist Statement

I make art that helps people escape the digital world and enter their minds in their own comfort zone. I like making art that can give your mind a little vacation while looking at it, makes you present and in the moment. With all the over stimulations of the world today, it’s nice to give yourself a visual reset. These paintings tell the story me while being homeless, the lessons I learned and the perspectives that changed
me for the better. The purpose of my landscapes paintings is to show the beauty in the struggle.

Artist Biography

Charles artistic jouney started at 3 years old, watching Bob Ross. Watching as he paints nature was inspiring to a boy born in the Bronx, a place that is the farthest from nature. He was amazed at Bob’s ability to make a whole world from a black canvas.
As Charles grew up he kept himself in the arts in many forms. In middle school he did art, dance, drama and music. He song in his church choire, that inspired him to teach himself how to play the piano. In high school he majored in music where he played precisions (snare drum, bass drum, toms toms, bongos, xylophone, marimba and piano) In music he found a love for preforming, practicing and playing in front of people, so much so his teachers brought him to play gigs in various locations in NYC, including CarnegieHall.
Charles has never stopped painting in that time, but over the past few years he has been really homing in on oil painting. He has gone through many challenges and obstacles and he wishes to share those storiesin his oil paintings.
