Born in the industrial landscapes of a steel town in Western Pennsylvania, my journey as an artist has been shaped by the gritty resilience of my surroundings and the expansive realms of imagination. My work delves into the world of automatic surrealism, where unconscious images, thoughts and emotions materialize into tangible forms. Trained as an organizer, educator, and art docent, and armed with three college degrees, I have woven together diverse disciplines and experiences to forge an artistic voice. Another previous experience which I attained as an academic at Purdue, was the transformative experience of being awarded a Fulbright to China,
introducing me to new perspectives and techniques that continue to inform my work. I began my art practice full time in 2012. My primary mediums are clay, ink, and acrylic. My art practice begins in a contemplative silence and a meditation of being.
