Artist Statement

Yes, you are special. BUT WAKE UP!!!! WE ARE AT WAR!!!!!! AND WE ARE ALLOWING WHAT IS LEFT OF
DEMOCRACY TO DIE.
I create compelling art about the Human Condition – as a result of unchecked Human Competition and its many contradictions and oppressions over one another and over nature. I examine racism, sexism, xenophobia, capitalism, gun violence, militarism, imperialism and the unending and truly spectacular and fascinating cognitive
dissonance and massive logical and emotional contradictions they create in the Amerikan mind. I began creating sculpture one day in 2018 when in extreme shock, grief and angst about one of our (uncountable) mass school shootings. In that moment, unasked, my subconscious mind sent me a vivid, profound waking vision: I saw a
huge rifle – but it was made out of bones!!! In awe at this profound vision I heeded it, decided to try to create it – and have been creating inspired sculpture ever since.
