I am a Downtown Los Angeles-based interdisciplinary artist working across visual art, music, and performance. Born in Brooklyn to Jamaican parents and relocated to California at seven, my practice is shaped by what I call “diasporic-transplantation”-the experience of being uprooted, adapted, and continually reconstructed across
cultures and histories.
My visual work began after being represented in the work of artists including Bill Viola. After portraying a contemporary Madonna and Child with my newborn son for Viola’s installation at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, I began questioning what it means to inhabit an image created by someone else.
